Washington Hot Springs

Washington Hot Springs Guide

Washington offers three very different hot-springs trips: developed mineral pools at Sol Duc in Olympic National Park, a reservation-controlled wilderness preserve at Goldmyer, and historic mineral bathing at Carson near the Columbia River Gorge. Choosing correctly depends more on access style than on which spring is closest.

Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort

Sol Duc is the easiest Washington choice for travelers who want regulated pools, cabins, campground access, and national-park scenery. The resort operates seasonally, and day-use availability, lodging, and pool sessions should be checked before entering the Sol Duc Valley.

The mineral pools are developed and monitored, making Sol Duc a better fit for families and first-time visitors than a remote wilderness spring.

Goldmyer Hot Springs

Goldmyer is located within a protected wilderness preserve in the Cascade foothills. Entry is limited and reservation controlled. The trip includes a rough approach road and a hike, so visitors must be ready to carry their supplies and follow preserve rules.

Goldmyer is best for travelers who value a quiet wilderness experience enough to plan well in advance.

Carson Hot Springs

Carson provides a historic developed option near the Columbia River Gorge. Its bathhouse and resort setting make it suitable for travelers who want mineral bathing without a backcountry route. Confirm the current menu of bath, pool, lodging, and spa options before traveling.

Season and Road Conditions

Sol Duc is seasonal, Goldmyer access can be affected by road and weather conditions, and mountain travel can change quickly. Washington visitors should verify both the facility status and the road used to reach it.

Is This Hot Spring a Good Fit?

This Spring May Work Well If

  • You are comfortable checking roads, trails, weather, water conditions, and land-management rules shortly before departure.
  • You value a natural setting and can carry water, footwear, towels, warm layers, and everything needed to pack out your trash.

Consider Another Option If

  • Choose a developed resort or bathhouse if you need guaranteed changing rooms, restrooms, controlled temperatures, accessibility features, or staff on site.
  • Skip the trip when roads, river crossings, heat, snow, wildfire, flooding, or personal mobility make the approach unsafe.

Verify Current Conditions Before You Go

Hot spring access and operating details can change with weather, maintenance, water conditions, ownership policies, and seasonal demand. Before traveling, confirm the following with the official operator, land-management agency, or another current local source:

  • Current opening status, operating days, and seasonal closures
  • Reservations, day-use limits, entry fees, and timed access
  • Road, trail, parking, shuttle, and winter-access conditions
  • Pool availability, water-level changes, maintenance, or temporary closures
  • Swimwear, shower, towel, locker, food, glass-container, and photography rules
  • Age limits, accessibility, pets, overnight use, and maximum soaking times
  • Trail conditions, river crossings, weather, wildfire restrictions, and emergency access
  • Package inclusions, lodging policies, spa appointments, and cancellation terms
  • Agency alerts, permits, fire restrictions, and temporary resource-protection rules

Do not rely on an older social post, screenshot, or search snippet for same-day access. Confirm details as close to your visit as practical.
